Dr. Zundel is the current President of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).  His extensive experience in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and obesity research brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to help frame Obesity PPM's solutions. Having received more than 17 national and international awards for research in the field of Minimally Invasive and Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Dr. Zundel is an internationally recognized thought leader, lecturer, professor, trainer, and innovator in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.  

 

Dr. Zundel holds active and honorary memberships in professional societies in over 30 countries. His memberships include:

Dr. Zundel has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and magazines. He has also served as a contributing author and editor for various chapters in books on surgical techniques. He serves on the editorial board for:

Dr. Zundel holds Professor of Surgery distinction in three countries and is currently serving as a Clinical Professor of Surgery and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Jackson North Medical Center in Miami, Florida.  He holds medical licenses in the United States and Colombia where he serves as a consultant for Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery for Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogata.
