
Lynne Thompson, RN, CBN
Advisor, Metabolic Surgery Accreditation & Quality Improvement
Lynne has worked in the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery for the last 15 years. She is the founder of Lynne Thompson Consulting, a strategic partner to Obesity PPM.

Lynne was responsible for the management of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) program from 2005 until August of 2014, first as the Vice President of Clinical Quality and Compliance when Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) managed the program (2005-2012) and then as the Clinical Program Director for ASMBS (2012- 2014). Lynne assisted the ASMBS with the transition of their program to the new Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

Lynne is a Registered Nurse and Certified Bariatric Nurse; she is the Chairperson for the Integrated Health section of the Florida Chapter of ASMBS and is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences on accreditation, quality improvement and metabolic and bariatric surgery program development.
​
Having personally performed almost 1,000 onsite inspections, there is no one in the metabolic and bariatric specialty who has evaluated more programs or hospitals.
​
Lynne’s expertise in quality and compliance gives her a distinct advantage when providing program assessments. She was a site inspector for nine years and is able to offer a valuable perspective when performing mock site inspections. Lynne’s passion is improving access to care for patients while achieving excellent results. She has experience in developing quality improvement processes that will track performance improvement, safety, and patient outcomes.

Lynne currently lives in St. Petersburg, Florida where her favorite pastime is spending time with family, particularly her two precious grandchildren.
